1. Current rage: fuck you, France. The xenophobia that seems built into discussions of Roma is seriously depressing. They are, obviously, ALL thieves and villains. Erm... wait.

2. General ongoing background rage: Denmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark. The 24 year rule isn't news, but that doesn't mean I can't continue being pissed off at it. Also, this. (Making a superhuman effort to not read the comments...)

Did you see recently where the other Nordic countries were having a meeting to decide whether to formally reprimand Denmark because it's been deporting their citizens as well? I think one of them was something like a Swedish college student who was left by her Danish partner and even though her parents were both working in Denmark as well, she was deported back to Sweden with her toddler. The racist nationalism is pretty ugly here too, but you only have to look over there to start to feel that it's not that bad.

I do think most places in Europe fail pretty hard at this stuff in one way or another, but Denmark just keeps bringing that extra level of you did what.

It disturbs me how xenophobes of Europe seem to get louder and louder these days, and how people seem to be willing to listen to them. It makes the paranoid side of me very nervous.
