[3W4D] Assorted one-page comics
Continuing on the translation spree!
First today we have some pages from "With best wishes" from Sara Granér. She's another feminist comic artist, and generally political. She, like Karolina Bång, is a member of Dotterbolaget, a group of feminist comic artists started in Malmö in 2005.

- A job with low pay is always better than no job at all, and an unfair job market is always better than no job market at all, right. That is, wage-slavery is better than no slavery at all, and above all: a bad argument is bloody well better than no argument at all!

- Hey, hey, who was it who actually said that girl clothes have to be pink and boy clothes are always blue?
- But aaargh, of course no-one's SAID it. It's a part of the complex socoiocultural system of mechanisms that combine to consistently hold the two sexes separate, which is central to maintaining the entire patriarchal order, stupid!
And then we've got a bit of Nanna Johansson. Nanna Johansson specialises in 1. turning opressive situations and ideas upside down to make a point, and 2. deliberate ugliness.
The book these are from is in fact called "Ugliness".
Fulheten/Ugliness by Nanna Johansson

Sport reporter: Great news! The national hockey team won yesterday! And it went fine for the men's team too...

A line-up of smurfs:
smart smurf, hot smurf, old smurf, lazy smurf, strong smurf, "smurfo".
(...sorry my scanner is so awful at colour pages, argh)

Man: The best thing about you is that you're a woman. That makes me un-gay!

Man: I'm afraid we can't let you adopt. Considering how homophobic you are, your children would probably run around and bully others in school.
And then finally, a quick one from Liv Strömquist!
100% Fat by Liv Strömquist

Interviewer: Huge congratulations on winning the Olympic gold! Tell us, how does it feel?
Athlete: In all honesty the whole competition makes me feel sick - it's an egotistical act and a nationalistic circus. I want to encourage people in every country not to compete against each other, help out instead of competing, and remember that nationalism is a construction which divides the working class and supports a racist world system!
NEXT TIME: Liv Strömquist gives us the results of the "Take care of a man!" competition.

*which is no longer a universal law as of the last ten or twelve years, thank goodness. But it's still the case in a lot of places - homophobic couples are allowed to adopt, while same-sex couples aren't allowed to, even though it would make so much more sense for it to be the other way around.

Well, OK, maybe they only said the first part. and the one-mother-one-father part.
